A month of blessing, mercy and forgiveness. A month which with Allah is the best of months. Its days, the best of days, its nights, the best of nights, and its hours, the best of hours. It is the month which invites you to be the guests of Allah and invites you to be one of those near to Him. Each breath you take glorifies him; your sleep is worship, your deeds are accepted and your supplications are answered. So, ask Allah, your Lord; to give you a sound body and an enlightened heart so you may be able to fast and recite his book, for only he is unhappy who is devoid of Allah’s forgiveness during this great month. Remember the hunger and thirst of the day of Qiyamah (Judgement) with your hunger and thirst; give alms to the needy and poor, honor your old, show kindness to the young ones, maintain relations with your blood relations; guard your tongues, close your eyes to that which is not permissible for your sight, close your ears to that which is forbidden to hear, show compassion to the orphans of people so compassion may be shown to your orphans. Repent to Allah for your sins and raise your hands in dua during these times, for they are the best of times and Allah looks towards his creatures with kindness, replying to them during the hours and granting their needs if he is asked…

“O People! Indeed your souls are dependant on your deeds, free it with Istighfar (repentance) lighten its loads by long prostrations; and know that Allah swears by his might: That there is no punishment for the one who prays and prostrates and he shall have no fear of the fire on the day when man stands before the Lord of the worlds.

“O People! One who gives Iftaar to a fasting person during this month will be like one who has freed someone and his past sins will be forgiven.

Some of the people who were there then asked the Prophet (s): “Not all of us are able to invite those who are fasting?”

The Prophet (s) replied: “Allah gives this reward even if the Iftaar (meal) is a drink of water.”

“One who has good morals (Akhlaq) during this month will be able to pass the ‘Siraat’…on the day that feet will slip…

“One who covers the faults of others will benefit in that Allah will curb His anger on the day of Judgement…

“As for one who honors an orphan; Allah will honor him on the day of judgement,

“And for the one who spreads his kindness, Allah will spread His mercy over him on the day of Judgement.

“As for the one who cuts the ties of relation; Allah will cut His mercy from him…

“Who so ever performs a recommended prayer in this month Allah will keep the fire of Hell away from him…

“Whoever performs an obligator prayer Allah will reward him with seventy prayers [worth] in this month.

“And who so ever prays a lot during this month will have his load lightened on the day of measure.

“He who recites one verse of the holy Quran will be given the rewards of reciting the hole Qur’an during other months.

“O People! Indeed during this month the doors of heaven are open, therefore ask Allah not to close them for you; The doors of hell are closed, so ask Allah to keep them closed for you. During this month Shaytan (Saten) is imprisoned so ask your Lord not to let him have power over you.”

Here once again is the blessed month of Ramadhan

Lo! Here once again is the blessed month of Ramadhan
Once again some of us find it difficult to fast
Once again we are fortunate to hear the Adhaan
Once again we could try and do better than last O Companions, this month comes but once a year
Wake up my friends let us make it ever dear
Fasting is good for health, it chastens the mind
Beware Muslims! This glamorous world is making you blind

Remember the Holy Qur'an! Our book of guidance
The blessed Prophet received it this month, yes
It contains Laws, thoughts that make it ever radiant
Lo! It emphasizes fasts and prayers to keep us out of mess

O you who believe! Are we to neglect the words of Almighty Allah?
No, no, it should not be, come on Muslims, let us face the Kaaba
Forget the pie, forget the drinks, let them lay
Fasting is but a few hours a day

O ye faithful! Leave aside smoking, vices
This is Ramadhan, clean your hearts of vanities
Fast, pray, remember Allah and recite the Holy Book
Allah is Merciful, yes, He can give us all a new look.

Every year the month of Ramadhan comes and goes; every year we fast, yet without proper appreciation of the potentials of character building that the fasts hold for us. We find ourselves as spiritually backwards after the fast are over as when the month began. In fact our lack of knowledge of the real objectives of fasts often tends to produce an adverse effect in us, for, as is well known, the best of medicines could have ill effects if not taken in accordance with the physician's directives and instructions.

Thus it is, that the fast tends to make many of us irritable and quick tempered (expecting, as we do, VIP treatment from others, especially our subordinates and family members because of our fast) while the fast was in fact meant to mellow us into exhibiting the finer tracts of human character as illustrated by our Imams.

Imam Zaynul Abidin (a) would record the lapses of his servants during the month of Ramadhan, without telling them anything at the time. As the month would draw to its close, he would gather the servants before him and apprise them of their mistakes, for giving them at the same time and beseeching the Lord to forgive him, even as he had forgiven them. The holy Imam, Masoom that he was, only sought by this practical demonstration to draw attention of his followers to the fact that they would be accountable to God for their actions and should they desire His forgiveness, they would have to forgive their subordinates as well. This practical lesson taught by the Imam ought to be rigorously pursued during the month of Ramadhan by the followers of the Imam.

As in this case, so in other spheres of life, our attitude to fasts ought indeed to be radically changed. We ought to welcome fasts as a practical means of reforming ourselves rather than nearly consider them as an inevitable religious bondage, eagerly awaiting to free ourselves there from at the month end to resume our ways of old again.

Besides of course being a means to acquiring the pleasure of God, for which all acts of devotion are basically meant, fasting could be used as a stepping stone to build up the various traits of character in accordance with the clear injunctions of the Qur'an itself that fasts have been prescribed with a view to developing piety in man.

In the hurry and bustle of the present day life, man often finds himself ill-equipped to battle through life's odds if he is not equipped with the proper attitude to face the various problems. While we find ourselves frustrated or look to other directions in such difficulties, we have most unfortunately overlooked the character building force that the fasts provide us every year.

Ramadhan is a month of fasting and prayers for the Muslims. The fast consists of total abstinence from food and drink from dawn to dusk. There is however, a greater significance to fasts than mere abstinence from eating and drinking. The real objective of fasts is to inculcate in man the spirit of abstinence from sins, and cultivation of virtue. Thus the Qur'an declares that the fasts have been prescribed with a view to developing piety in man. How are the many facets of piety sought to be cultivated through fasts? This article tries to list as concisely as possible, the various benefits the fasts would confer upon Muslims.

The most important consideration in undertaking a fast, as in any act of devotion, is to seek nearness to God, and seek His pleasure and Forgiveness. This itself generates a spirit of piety in man.

Creating the conditions of hunger and thirst for oneself, simply in obedience to the Divine order, measures the faith of man in God and helps strengthen it by putting it to a severe test.

Fasting enhances through creation of artificial non-availability, the value of the bounties of God which man often takes for granted. This inculcates in man a spirit of gratitude and consequent devotion to God. Nothing else can bring home to a man the worth of God's bounties than a glass of water and a square meal after a day long fast. This also reminds man that the real joy in enjoying God's bounties lies in moderation and restraint and not in over indulging.

Fasting makes us deeply conscious of the pangs of hunger and discomfort suffered by the less fortunate among our brethren. They have to put up with difficult conditions all through their lives. It thus kindles in man a spirit of sacrifice leading to change towards his suffering brethren.

Fasting gives man an unfailing training in endurance, a spirit of acceptance. This could well prepare him to put up with the unchangeable situations in life in the same spirit of resignation as cultivated during the fasts.

Fasting develops courage, fortitude, and a fighting spirit in man to surmount the heavy odds in life with a cool and tranquil mind. It sharpens his power of concentration to overcome obstacles through a vigorous exercise all throughout the month, leading to a steeling of his will power and resolve, that could help him in challenging situations in life. It is seen than many an undesirable habit which is difficult to give up, is more easily given up during the days of fasting.

Fasting teaches man reliance on God, and confidence in Him. Just as the vigorous state of fasting for a whole month is undertaken with His assistance, bitter situations in life could also be surmounted with His help.

Fasting develops a spirit of patience in man, with the realization that the days of fasting, though seemingly unending, do have a successful and happy end. Thus is life. All bitter situations pass, and come to an end.

Fasting is meant to conquer anger and develop self-control in man. The vigorous effort required to put up with hunger and thirst can well be extended to conquer other infirmities of human character that lead man into error and sin.

Fasting inculcates a spirit of tolerance in man to face unpleasant conditions and situations without making his fellow beings the victim of his wrath. Many people, when facing discomfort and deprivation, become irritable and annoyed. This anger is then vented on those around them. Fasting helps a man become more tolerant despite his own discomfort.

Fasting mellows a man and enhances his character, giving a jolt to the human instincts of pride, haughtiness, jealousy and ambition. Fasting softens his character, and clears his heart and mind of many negative emotions.

Fasting exposes the weakness of man in the event of his being deprived of two basic bounties of God; food and drink. It infuses into him a spirit of weakness and submission, generating humility and prayer in an otherwise arrogant being.

Fasting breathes the spirit of forgiveness in man towards others, as he seeks God's forgiveness through fasts and prayers.

Fasting gives lessons in punctuality. Man has to adhere to a strict schedule of time in the observance of the fast.

Fasting could affect the economy of the individual as he is less wasteful on food and meals.

Fasting demands a rigid sense of discipline, mental, spiritual and physical. This forms characteristics which are an essential ingredient to success in life.

Fasting creates spiritual reformation in man, infusing him with a spirit of enthusiasm and zest to change and become a better human being in the eyes of God. This is an excellent opportunity, given to believers each year, to change themselves and consequently their destinies.

On the physical side, fasting cleanses the human system of the accumulated impurities of uninterrupted eating throughout the year. It prepares the body to face diseases or conditions of scarcity. The rigid abstinence of a fast regulates man's health, sharpens his intellect and enhances the qualities of his heart.

Fasting is thus a bounty in itself, encompassing within itself many bounties. It instills a spirit of reformation in man, creating a wide awakening in him to fulfil his duties towards God and man, and towards himself. (Adapted from an article by Marhum Ahmed Sheriff Dewji, published in the Light Magazine)

Many are those fettered with chains of sin, and those captivated by bad habits of whose damage and dangers they are completely aware. They stay imprisoned by those habits after their wills are weakened.

Habits have their own power over souls and authority over hearts; they become implanted in the human being, and turn into one of his inherent natures, which he becomes unable to change.

The essential factor to get rid of a bad habit is to have a firm will, and Ramadan is a divinely educational school where the Muslim believer is trained to strengthen his will by not surpassing the limits of his Lord in everything, to resign to His judgment in everything, and to execute His commands and laws in everything.

Fasting is a way to establish a resolute firm will, a way for the human being to connect with his Lord in obedience and submission, and a way to transcend beyond all bodily necessities with all their pressure and heaviness, preferring the pleasure and good rewards that are with Allah. Thus, fasting is a golden opportunity to rid oneself of bad habits, and here is an explanation of the factors that help to do so:

1. Having a firm willI have explained above this point. The more the will is strengthened, the more the power of the habit is weakened.
2. The length of the period of changeOne observing the fast abides by the Shariah and is most careful to obey Allah through abandoning his bad habits for a 30-day period, which is enough if the intention of change is sincere.
3. The comprehensiveness of changeThe fasting believer changes the time of his sleep, his waking up, his meals; the ways he spends his time; the arrangement of his priorities and interests; and even his emotions and passions, so the ability to change becomes greater.
4. The generality of changeFasting in Ramadan creates a general attitude of change that encompasses the entire Islamic society. Therefore, each Muslim receives this internal and external change, and this is one of the most important helping factors for accomplishing change. The person willing to change will not be alone, but will find similar change in all the people around him.If you do not succeed in changing despite the existence of many supporters and plenty of time, you may never be able to change at all, and, in this case, perhaps it is not the change you are seeking. If you are unable to get rid of your worst habits in Ramadan, you have deprived yourself of the blessing and wisdom of the Lord of the universe. He has ordained fasting on His servants so that they may change their bad personal characteristics, but some have instead changed only the time of their meals. So do not satisfy yourself with being one of this group, but be one of the wise, pious group who are keen on verifying Allah s purpose and the objectives of His Shariah.

The real aim of fasting is to purify the soul from forbidden desires and customs. Reaching such an aim depends upon renouncing bad habits, and holding on to them is a form of slavery.

However during the present times when the Holy Imam is in Occultation, these prayers are Mustahab, and may be offered individually as well as in congregation.

The time for Eid prayers is from sunrise till Zuhr. just to convey all readers , the importance of Eid ul fitr.

I would like to start this topic with a sermon of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (as) delivered on the day of Eid al-Fitr, in which he said:

"O people! Verily this day of yours is the day when the righteous are awarded and the wretched are losers. It is a day which is similar to the one on which you shall be standing (before your Lord). Therefore, when you come out of your homes to go to places of your prayer, remind yourselves about the day when you (your souls) shall come out of your bodies to go to your Lord. When you stand on places of your prayer, remind yourselves of your standing in presence of your Lord (on the day of Judgement). And when you return to your homes (after prayer), remind yourselves about your returning to your homes in Paradise.(Nahjul-Balaghah)

That is why It is recommended that Eid prayers be performed in the open fields, to walk barefooted to attend Eid prayers and to perform Sajdah on earth and to do Ghusl before namaz, and to place a white turban on one's head. The Holy Qur'an says:Whoever has done an atom 's weight of good, will see it and whoever has done an atom's weight of evil, will also see it. (Surah az-Zilzal, 99:7,8) Maula ali (a.s) also said in the same sermon of nahjul Balagha: O Servants of Allah! Verily the minimum reward for those men and women who fasted (during Ramadhan), is an Angel, who calls out to them on the last day of the month of Ramadhan (saying):

O SERVANTS OF ALLAH! REJOICE THE GLAD TIDING THAT ALL YOUR PREVIOUS SINS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN.

Fitrah should not be sent outside the town

Dua'a Khatmul Quran- after finishing Quran

Disposal of Fitra

Note:Like in all other prayers, the follower should recite everything in the Eid prayers, except Surah al-Hamd and the other Surah

Announcements:

Saudi Arabia has declared that Ramadan for the year 1431 Hijrah will complete 30 days, and the first day of Eid AL-Fitr will corresponding to Friday the 10th of September 2010.

According to a new fatwa from the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), Eid-al-Fitr will be on Thursday 9th September, See Link.

According to Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) and Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), Eid-al-Fitr is on Friday, September 10, 2010, See Link.

Shi'aa declarations *expected* for 1st Shawwal:

Thursday: Shi'aa clergy office of the late Sayyed Muhamad Hussein Fadlullah announced that Eid is on Thursday 9th September, except New Zealand and Australia, See link.

Thursday: Shi'aa clergy in the West (Dearborn, MI), His Eminence Ayatuallah Sheikh Abdullatif Berry annouces that Thursday, September 9 is Eid El Fitr. See link.

Friday: Most Shi'aa in Africa, southern Asia, Middle East, South America and southern parts of North America, as well as followers of late Sayyid Khoei in Europe and northern parts of North America.

http://moonsighting.com/1431shw.html

For confirmation of eid in your locality contact Local Aalim.

Alqaem india Team

www.alqaem.org (website)

www.aqyouth.blogspot.com (Hindi Blog)

www.smma59.wordpress.com (English Blog)

www.smma59.blogspot.com (English Events Blog)

www.jaunpurcity.in (Jaunpur website)

Admin

S.M.MAsoom Abidi
S.M.Masoomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00229817373609457341noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8617657799081545391.post-9084512516498425572010-04-22T10:19:00.001-07:002010-04-22T10:19:31.087-07:00Few feeds for you

<img style="border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" alt="??-???????
Answer 6 - It is compulsory to fast, but if your thirst reached a limit where you fear you might harm yourself or collapse and in a difficult situation then drink only what is necessary and hold your fast for the rest of the day, but also make up for this fast after Ramadhan.

Question 7 - Does putting on kohl and perfume break your fast?
Answer 7 - It does not break your fast.

Question 8 - Can the baker drink water during the holy month of Ramadhan?
Answer 8 - If he became thirsty to the extent he feared for himself from harm or collapsing and in a difficult situation it is permissible for him to drink but he must make up for it later on. It is an obligatory precaution to suffice on what is necessary and holding the fast for the rest of the day.

Question 9 - A person was sure that he had performed Ghusl (ritual ablution) and so fasted the month of Ramadhan, but after some time he realised that he hadn't performed Ghusl, so what is the ruling of his fast?
Answer 9 - His fast is correct.

Question 10 - What is the ruling of one who narrates a weak tradition while fasting without relating it to whom or who narrates it?
Answer 10 - His fast does not become void.

Question 11- A person is fasting and forgot that he is fasting, and asked from another person to provide him with water. But if working while fasting is the cause to that weakness, then one should change the working hours or reduce them or search for another job etc.

Question 13- Is there a harm on the validity of the fast in applying cosmetics on the body, and also the powder?
Answer 13- there is no harm

Question 14- Am I allowed during the obligatory and recommended fasts to use tooth brush and tooth paste or is it from the things that invalidate the fast.
Answer 14- It is permissible only if nothing descends in the abdomen.

Question 15- Is it permissible for a fasting person to gargle with water and other.
Answer 15- It is permissible for a fasting person to gargle with water with the intention of wudhu (ablution), and for other reasons, only if he/she does not swallow any water deliberately, and he/she must spit out his/her saliva after the gargle three times.

Question 16- Is it permissible to use a Miswak (tooth stick) during the state of fasting?
Answer 16- It is permissible for a fasting person to use a tooth stick, but if the person took out the Miswak (tooth stick) form his/her mouth, he/she must not return it to ones mouth when it contains moisture except if the person spits out whatever is in the mouth from saliva, after returning it to the mouth, or the moisture that's on the Miswak (tooth stick) vanishes in the saliva.

Question 17- Is it permissible to inject a needle and the nutrient during the state of fasting?
Answer 17- Injecting a medicine or other via a needle in a muscle or the jugular vein does not invalidate the fast. Similarly using liquid drops in the ear or the eye does not invalidate the fast even if it caused an appearance of colour or taste in the mouth. Also the fast is not invalidated by using the spray that facilitates the respiratory process if the substance goes in the wind wipe and not the food pipe.

Question 18- An aeroplane pilot is imposed, at the end of his working hours, to drink water in every while, what is the ruling of his fasting?
Answer 18- If the mentioned work during the month of ramadhan is necessary to secure his salary and leaving it will cause awkwardness, then there is no harm in drinking a necessary amount of water and do qadha (fasting the day later in the year) of that day and there is no kaffara (a penance) to be paid by him.

Question 19- If someone was forced to work and was required to drink water, either for necessity like the example of the pilot or due to the extreme heat in the weather. What is he/she to do in the hold month of ramadhan?
Answer 19- If the mentioned work during the month of ramadhan is necessary to secure his salary and leaving it will cause extreme hardship and awkwardness, then there is no harm in drinking a necessary amount of water and do qatha (fasting the day later in the year) of that day and there is no kaffara (a penance) to be paid by him.

Question 20- We are in Boden city in northern Sweden where the night in this place does not exceeds an hour and a half, that is from about 12am to 2am with the visibility of the redness of the sunrise is present, clear and polish and there is no evidence of darkness of the night, so we are in confusion in terms of the timings of the Maghrib, Isha'a and morning prayers. This is in terms of the timings, in terms of the month of Ramadhan, if it begins during these days, what will the fasting procedure be?

Answer 20- If the sunrise redness does not disappear at all, then Maghrib (sunset) is after the whole moon is covered completely and making sure of this is a must. The time for morning prayer is before the sunrise and one must fast the whole of this day with the ability to do so. If one falls in unbearable awkward situation, then breaking the fast is permissible and doing qatha (fasting the day later in the year) after that.

http://sistani.org/local.php?modules=extra&eid=3&aid=67
S.M.Masoomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00229817373609457341noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8617657799081545391.post-67670113478780918702009-09-02T12:14:00.000-07:002009-09-02T12:19:34.442-07:00Reward of one who fasts during The Month of Ramadan
On page 96 of Thawab al-A'mal Wa Iqab al- A'mal , and also on page 48 of his book al-Amali (or page 29-32 of old editions),

Shaykh Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Babawayh al-Qummi al-Saduq (306-381 A.H.) quotes Muhammad Ibn Ibrahim al-Ma'athi saying that Ahmed ibn Jaylawayh al-Jurjani al- Muthakkar quotes Abu Ishaq Ibrahim ibn Bilal quoting Abu Muhammad quoting Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Kiram quoting Ahmed ibn Abdullah quoting Sufyan ibn 'Ayeenah quoting Mu'awiya ibn Abu Ishaq quoting Sa'eed ibn Jubayr saying,

I asked Ibn Abbas once about the reward of one who fasts during The Month of Ramadan knowing its greatness.

He said,
O' Son of Jubayr! Get ready to listen to what your ears have never heard before, nor your heart has ever experienced, nor has your soul ever reckoned regarding that about which you have inquired! What you are seeking is the knowledge of the first generations and the last!

Therefore, I left him and prepared myself to meet him again. I returned to him at early daybreak. Having said the morning prayers (together), I reminded him of the tradition, which I had sought, so he turned his face to me and said, listen carefully to what I am going to tell you. I have heard The Messenger of Allah (S) saying,
Had you ever come to know about your rewards during The Month of Ramadan, you would surely have thanked The Almighty a great deal more (than you usually do).

When the first night is over, Allah (SWT), The Almighty and The Exalted One, forgives the sins committed by all members of my nation, the ones committed in secrecy and the ones committed in public, and He elevates your status two thousand degrees and builds you fifty towns in Paradise.

On the next day, He rewards you for every step you take during that day with the rewards of one who adored Him for a full year and the reward of one of His Prophets, and He will reward you as though you had performed the fast for a full year.

On the third day, The Exalted and Dear One grants you a Dome in Paradise for each hair on your body, a Dome of a white pearl on top of which are twelve thousand light houses and at the bottom of which are twelve thousand houses in each one of which there are one thousand beds and on each bed of which there is a Heavenly Lady with large lovely eyes, each served by one thousand servants the head-covering of each one of them is better than this world and everything in it.

On the fifth day, He builds you in Paradise a million cities in each one of which there are seventy thousand houses, inside each one of which there are seventy thousand tables, and on each table there are seventy thousand bowls, and in each bowl there are sixty thousand types of food each one of which is different from the other.

On the sixth day, He will grant you in The Abode of Peace a hundred thousand towns in each one of which there are a hundred thousand rooms, in each room there are a hundred thousand beds of gold the length of each is a thousand yards, and on each bed is a Heavenly Lady with large lovely eyes whose hair has thirty thousand locks braided with pearls and sapphires, and each lock is carried by a hundred concubines.

On the seventh day, The Almighty grants you in The Garden of Bliss the rewards of forty thousand martyrs and forty thousand pious men (amongst the truthful).

On the eighth day, Allah Almighty grants you the rewards of the good deeds of sixty thousand worshippers and sixty thousand ascetics.

On the ninth day, Allah, The Exalted One, gives you what is equal to what He gives a thousand scholars and a thousand devotees and a thousand warriors fighting for Allah in a foreign land.

On the tenth day, He gives you the fulfillment of seventy thousand of your worldly wishes and orders the sun, the moon, the stars, the animals, the birds, the beasts, every rock and every rain-drop, everything wet and everything dry, all fish in the oceans and all leaves on the trees, to pray for your forgiveness.

On the eleventh day, The Exalted and Mighty One grants you the rewards whereby He rewards one who performs the pilgrimage and umrah four times and one who performs the pilgrimage with His Prophets and the umrah with every Truthful or Martyr.

On the twelfth day, He takes upon Himself to replace your sins with good deeds, and then He multiplies your good deeds many times and gives you the rewards of each of your good deeds a million times.

On the thirteenth day, Allah (SWT) Almighty grants you what He grants the devotees of Makkah and Madinah and bestows upon you an intercession for each stone and raindrop between Makkah and Madinah.

On the fourteenth day, He treats you as though you had met and followed in the footsteps of Prophet Adam, Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa, Daud and Prophet Suleiman (peace be on all of them), and as though you had worshipped The Almighty Allah (SWT) in the company of His Prophets for two hundred years.

On the fifteenth day, He fulfills ten of your worldly wishes and those of The Hereafter and grants you what He granted Prophet Ayub (AS). Then He orders The Angels who bear The 'Throne' to pray for your forgiveness and grants you on the Day of Resurrection 40 lights: ten on your right, ten on your left, ten before you and ten behind you.

On the sixteenth day, The Almighty grants you sixty outfits to wear as soon as you abandon your grave and a she-camel to ride, and He will send a cloud to overshadow you to protect you from the heat of that Day.

On the seventeenth day, The Almighty Allah (SWT) says, 'I have forgiven them and their parents and exempted them from having to undergo the hardships of The Day of Resurrection.'

On the eighteenth day, The Praised and Exalted One orders Archangel Jibraeel, Mikaeel and Israfeel (Peace be on all of them) as well as The Angels who bear The 'Throne' and all Archangels to seek forgiveness for the nation of Prophet Muhammad (S) till the next year, and He will also grant you on The Day of Resurrection whatever rewards He grants to those who participated in the Battle of Badr.

On the nineteenth day, all Angels in The Heavens and on Earth will have already sought permission of their Lord to visit your graves and to bring you every day a present and a drink (as long as you remain in the Barzakh).

Therefore, if you complete your fast for twenty full days, Te Almighty Allah (SWT) sends you seventy thousand angels to protect you from every accursed devil. He will have granted you for each day of your fast your rewards as though you fasted a hundred years. He will set a ditch between you and Hell and grant you the rewards of all those who recited The Torah, The Gospel, The Psalms and The Holy Qur'an, and will write for you for each feather on Jibraeel the reward of a full year and will grant you the rewards of those who glorify Him at The 'Throne' and 'Chair' and will marry you to a thousand nymphs for each of the verses of The Qur'an.
On the twenty-first day, The Almighty expands your grave a thousand parasangs and lifts the darkness and loneliness of your graves and makes your graves look like the graves of the martyrs and your faces like the face of Prophet Yusuf (AS) son of Prophet Ya'qub (AS).

On the twenty-second day, The Almighty dispatches The Angel of Death as He dispatches him to His Prophets to remove your worldly worries and the torment of The Hereafter.

On the twenty-third day, you will pass on The Straight Path in the company of The Prophets, the first to follow The Prophets, and the martyrs, as if you had fed each orphan and clothed everyone who needed to be clothed.

On the twenty-fourth day, you will not leave this life before each one of you sees the place reserved for him or her in Paradise and is given the rewards of a thousand sick and a thousand who go back to their creed and will grant you the rewards of one who freed a thousand captives from the descendants of Prophet Ismael (AS).

On the twenty-fifth day, Allah (SWT) will have built you under His 'Throne' a thousand green domes on top of each one of which is a tent of light. The Almighty and Exalted One will then say,

'O' Followers of Muhammad! I am your Lord and you are My servants! Enjoy the shade of My Throne in these domes, eat, and drink with enjoyment, for there will be no fear on you, nor will you grieve. O' Nation of Muhammad! By My Dignity and Greatness! I shall dispatch you to Paradise in a way, which will amaze the first generations and the last. I shall crown each one of you with a thousand light crowns. I shall provide for each one of you a she camel whose reins are made of light, and in it are a thousand gold rings, in each is an Angel looking after it, in the hand of each Angel is a light rod so that he may enter Paradise without a reckoning.'

In addition, on the twenty-sixth day, Allah (SWT) will look at you with compassion and will forgive all your sins except those of shedding innocent blood or robbing people's wealth, and He will grant you every day a thousand barriers against backbiting, lying and slandering.

On the twenty-seventh day, He will consider you as though you had aided every believing man and woman and clothed seventy thousand naked persons and equipped a thousand soldiers to camp in a foreign land to defend Islam, and as if you have recited every book, Allah (SWT) has revealed to His prophets.
On the twenty-eighth day, Allah (SWT) will have built you in Paradise a hundred thousand light cities and granted you in the garden of bliss a hundred thousand silver mansions and a hundred thousand cities in each one of which there are a thousand rooms, and granted you in the garden of greatness a hundred thousand pulpits of musk inside each one of which there is a thousand saffron houses in each one of which there are a thousand beds of pearls and sapphires and on each bed a wife of the Heavenly Ladies with large lovely eyes.

So if you complete your fast till the twenty-ninth day, The Almighty Allah (SWT) will grant you a million quarters, inside each quarter is a white dome underneath which is a white camphor bed on which there are a thousand mattresses of green silk on each one of which there is a Heavenly Lady decorated with seventy thousand ornaments and crowned with eighty thousand locks each one of which is decorated with diamonds and sapphires.

So if you finish thirty complete days of fast, The Almighty will have granted you for each day the rewards of a thousand martyrs and a thousand foremost believers in His Prophets, and He will have assigned for you the rewards of fifty years of adoration, and He will have decreed a clearance for you from Hell and a passage on The Straight Path and a security against the torment. One of The Gates of Paradise is al-Rayyan, and it shall never be opened before The Day of Resurrection. It will be opened for those among the nation of Prophet Muhammad (S) who performed the fast. Ridhwan, custodian of Paradise, will call out saying:

'O Followers of Muhammad! Come to The al-Rayyan Gate!'
Therefore, he will let my nation enter Paradise through that gate. Therefore, if one is not forgiven during The Month of Ramadan, in which month can he be forgiven? There is neither will nor strength except from Allah (SWT); Allah (SWT) suffices us, and what a great Helper He is!
This lengthy tradition is also recorded on pp. 183-185, Vol. 8, of Bihar al-Anwar .
S.M.Masoomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00229817373609457341noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8617657799081545391.post-9677612162269008992009-08-10T09:09:00.001-07:002009-08-10T09:37:02.365-07:00Laylatul Qadr Amaal
Shab-e-Qadr (the night of Qadr) is a highly virtuous night since the Holy Quran was transferred on the holy heart of the Holy Prophet(sawaw) in this night. There are three probable nights which might contain the Shab-e-Qadr - the 19th, 21st and the 23rd night of Ramzan. Most of the scholors regard the 23rd of Ramzan as the most probable night of Qadr.

The prayers of one night of Shab-e-Qadr are stated to be better thatn the prayers of one thousand nights. It is the night during which the events of the next year are determined and Angels descend on earth thorughout the nigh and visit the Imam-al-Asr waz-Zaman Imam Mehdi(a.s.). Each momin and momina has been suggested to wake up and pray, recite the Holy Quran and ask for the betterment of the current and the life hereafter.

Common Aamal of all the three nights of Shab-e-Qadr19th, 21st and the 23rd night of Ramzan

Recite Dua Iftetah Every night of ramzan

It is recommended that momineen perform ablution in the evening so that the prayers of Maghrib and Isha'a are performed in absolute cleanliness and to keep awake the whole night and offer prayers, recite the Holy Quran and Dua.

It is highly recommended to recite Dua Joshan-e-Kabeer, Dua Joshan-e-Sagheer, Dua Makaram-ul-Ikhlaq and Dua-e-Tauba during this night.

1 ) Performing GhuslL (Taking Bath) , Preferably just before sunset.

2 ) Prophet Mohammad(sawaw) has said : OFFER 2 RAKA'AT NAMAZ .

IN EACH RAKA'AT AFTER SURA-E-HAMD, RECITE 7 TIMES SURAH-E-IKHLAS (i-e QUL HUWALLAHO AHAD)

and after prayers recites 70 times

Astaghfirulla-ha wa-atoubo ilaeh

THEN RECITE 100 TIMES

"ASTAGH FIRULLAH RABBI WA ATOOBO ILAIHE"

then before his rising up from the prayers, Allah(swt) will forgive all his sins and the sins of his parents.

THEN

Imam Mohammad Baqi(a.s.) says that during these nights (i.e. the 19th, 21st and 23rd of Ramzan)

Hold and open the Holy Quran in front of your face and recite this Dua :mp3

Alla humma inni as 'aluka be kitabek-al munzal-e wa ma feeh-e wa feehismok-al akbaro

wa asmaaukal husna wa ma yukhafu wa yurja an taj 'alani min utaqa'eka min-an nar-e

wa taqzi-a hawa'eji lid-duniya wal aakhirah.

and then ask for whatever you wish from your Lord(swt). However during the present times when the Holy Imam is in Occultation, these prayers are Mustahab, and may be offered individually as well as in congregation. The time for Eid prayers is from sunrise till Zuhr. just to convey all readers , the importance of Eid ul fitr ,I would like to start this topic with a sermon of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (as) delivered on the day of Eid al-Fitr, in which

he said:

This is known as Zakat of Fitra, which is Wajib on every Baligh person.
If you have a guest with you, who has arrived at your house before sunset on the eve of Eid ul Fitr, then his/her Fitra is WAJIB upon you.

As per law 1999 of Ayatullah Seestani’s ‘Islamic laws’: “At the time of sunset on Eid ul Fitr, whoever is adult and sane and is neither unconscious, nor poor, or the slave of another, he should give, on his own behalf as well as on behalf of all those who are his dependents, about three kilos per head of wheat or barley or dates or raisins or rice of millet etc. It is also sufficient if he pays the price of one of these items in case”

Some Important Question i am adding here:
WHEN DOES FITRAH BECOME WAJIB? The Fitrah becomes wajib (obligatory) after the sunset on the eve of Eidul Fitr. It should be kept aside and paid on Eidul Fitr before Eid prayers or before midday for those who do not say their Eid prayers. It is essential to have an obligatory intention (niyyat) of paying Fitrah for God’s pleasure only.

WHAT HAPPENS IF FITRAH IS NOT PAID ON TIME? If one does not pay or set aside the Fitrah within the due time, he should give the Fitrah later, on the basis of precaution, without making the niyyah of adaa or qadhaaa but only Qurbatan Ilallah.

CAN WE GIVE FITRAH IN ADVANCE? Giving Fitrah before the eve of Eidul Fitr is not permissible. However, if you wish to send Fitrah earlier so that it reaches the needy on Eid day, then send it out as a temporary loan to the needy and then change your intention to Fitrah on the eve of Eid.

WHO IS SUPPOSED TO PAY THE FITRA? It is obligatory to pay Fitrah on every Muslim who is mature (baligh), sane, financially able, and conscious on the eve of Eidul Fitr. Fitrah should also be paid on behalf of all dependants (e.g. wife, children) whom one supports financially.

DO WE PAY FITRAH FOR OUR GUESTS? If you invite another person to your house on the eve of Eidul Fitr an d if the guest arrives at your place before sunset ten it is obligatory for you to pay his/her Fitrah. If a person arrives uninvited then it is precautionary obligatory (per Ayatullah As-Sistani) to pay his/her Fitrah. The Late Ayatullah Sayyid al-Khui was of the opinion that it is recommended for the host to pay Fitrah of an uninvited guest.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE GUEST ARRIVES AFTER THE SUNSET ON EID NIGHT? In this case, the guest will pay his/her own Fitrah and it is not obligatory on the host to pay the Fitrah for the guest.

HOW MUCH FITRA SHOULD WE PAY? Fitrah for a person is given on a weight of three kilograms (one sa’a) on any food commodity like wheat, barley, rice, millet, raisins or dates. Some scholars (e.g. Ayatullah As-Sistani) are of the opinion that the item that is not staple food in your place should not be given in Fitrah.

CAN WE GIVE CASH VALUE OF ANY COMMODITY MENITONED ABOVE? Yes, cash value in lieu of any foodstuff mentioned can be given as Fitrah. So, for example, if the price of basmati rice is $2.50 per kg, then the cash value of Fitrah on rice per person would be $7.50.

TO WHOM SHOULD WE GIVE THE FITRAH? It is given to the needy who are unable to meet their own or their dependants annual living expenses, nor do they have the means to do so through earning. According to some scholars (e.g. Ayatollah As-Sistani) such a needy person must be a Shi’ah Ithna Asheri.

WHO CANNOT BE GIVEN THE FITRAH? A needy person who consumes alcohol, does not say his daily prayers (salaat), commits sins openly, or who is known to use the Fitrah in sinful ways does not deserve the Fitrah.

Disposal of Fitra.

ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL RULES THAT WE NEED TO BE AWARE OF?

Following are some important rules:

Fitrah should not be sent outside the town one resides in if there are deserving people in that town.

Fitrah from a non-Sayyid cannot be given to a needy Sayyid; the reverse is permissible

A needy should be given at least one Fitrah.

Amongst the needy, relatives should be preferred over others when giving Fitrah; next in line are neighbors and then the learned.

CAN WE GIVE FITRAH IN ADVANCE? Giving Fitrah before the eve of Eidul Fitr is not permissible. alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239279443744748642" border="0" />The Holy Month of Ramadhan, which begins after the crescent of the new moon is spotted, is one of the most sacred Islamic observances because it marks the month in which Allah revealed the Holy Qur'an to Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), bringing with it all the glory. This is the month in which the doors of heavens are kept open, doors of hell are closed and Satan is kept in chains.

Ramadhan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Abstaining from eating, drinking and sexual intercourse between dawn and dusk is simply the means to attain the spiritual experience, but it is certainly not the ends. Each Ramadhan brings new insights and meanings for the faithful.

The main purpose of fasting is described in the Qur'an as "so that you may attain taqwa or God-consciousness". Fasting is thus yet another instrument for bringing us closer to our natural state, our state of fitrah and for cleansing this state from the dross of any disobedience and corruption.

Ramadhan is a month of heightened devotion. In it, Salaat is performed with greater intensity. It is a period of intense reflection and devotion, seeking guidance and forgiveness, and reading the Qur'an. Ramadhan is a great opportunity to get closer to the blessed guidance of the Qur'an which was revealed in this month. Ramadhan is also called the month of the Qur'an.

The month of Ramadhan is an opportunity to develop qualities of endurance and self-restraint, to control anger and a fiery or malicious tongue.

Ramadhan is a time to awaken compassion and solidarity with others and in particular with the poor. We are urged to be more liberal in giving during Ramadhan and are required at the end of fasting to give Zakat al Fitr, an amount to enable all to share in the spirit of warmth, affection and brotherhood.

Ramadhan is above all an opportunity to reorient oneself to the Creator and the natural path of goodness and God-consciousness.

Fasting has long been revered as a path to holiness among many of the world's religions. But the practice is not as widespread as it once was, except among Muslims, who regard fasting (siyam) as a pillar of faith. For Muslims, Ramadhan isn't considered a hardship, but a time of charity and fellowship, so revered that even those most lax in their faith are observant.

Jews and Christians share similar beliefs. For instance, the Jewish fast day of Yom Kippur is a time of solemnity as well as joy. Fasting is considered part of the process of atonement.

The heyday for fasting among Christians was the Middle Ages. In its extreme form, saints such as Catherine of Siena and Clare of Assisi fasted to near starvation and often flogged themselves to gain control over carnal desires and induce mystical visions.

Fasting is not obligated for the reason of instigating hunger so that other desires are suppressed. Rather, fasting should make the believer closer to Allah (swt) and hence it becomes easier for him to abstain from committing the Haram.

Here, we must note, any divine rule is associated with some effort or hardship. And some obligations require more hardship than others. For example, Jihad requires more effort and energy than fasting. But the hardship itself is not a reason for the legislation of the obligation. However, Allah (swt) will reward man according how much effort and energy he puts into the fulfilling of the divine rule.

As for the fasting, it requires patience and endurance. Allah (swt) declared:
"O you who believe! be patient and excel in patience and remain steadfast, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, that you may be successful." (Qur'an 3:200)
The evening of the 23rd day of the month marks the most special day of the year for believers as Laylat-al-Qadr (the Night of Decree) is observed. It is believed that on this night Prophet Muhammad first received the revelation of the Holy Quran. Any prayer or deed is returned manifold and all sins are forgiven

"To be healthy, one must consume food from the major food groups: bread and cereal, milk and dairy product, meat and bean, vegetable and fruit. During the month long fast of Ramadan the metabolic rate of a fasting person slows down and other regulatory mechanisms start functioning. Body and dietary fat is efficiently utilized. Consuming total food intake that is less than the total food intake during normal days is sufficient to maintain a person's health. Intake of fruits after a meal is strongly suggested. A balanced diet improves blood cholesterol profile, reduces gastric acidity, prevents constipation and other digestive problems, and contributes to an active and healthy life style."

- (Int. Indeed your souls are
dependant on your deeds, free it with Istighfar (repentance)
lighten its loads by long prostrations;
and know that Allah swears by his might:
That there is no punishment for the one who
prays and prostrates and he shall have no fear of the fire on the
day when man stands before the Lord of the worlds.

O People! One who gives Iftaar to a
fasting person during this month will be like one who has freed
someone and his past sins will be forgiven.

Some of the people who were there then asked
the Prophet (s): "Not all of us are able to
invite those who are fasting?"

The Prophet (s) replied: "Allah gives
this reward even if the Iftaar (meal) is a drink of water."

One who has good morals (Akhlaq)
during this month will be able to pass the
‘Siraat’...on the day that feet will slip...

One who covers the faults of others
will benefit in that Allah will curb
His anger on the day of Judgment...

As for one who honors an orphan;
Allah will honor him on the day of judgment,

And for the one who spreads his kindness,
Allah will spread His mercy over him on the day of Judgment.

As for the one who cuts the ties of relation;
Allah will cut His mercy from him...

Who so ever performs a recommended prayer in this month
Allah will keep the fire of Hell away from him...

Whoever performs an obligator prayer
Allah will reward him with seventy prayers [worth] in this month.

And who so ever prays a lot during this month
will have his load lightened on the day of measure.

He who recites one verse of the holy Qur'an
will be given the rewards of reciting the whole Qur’an during other months.

O People!
Indeed during this month
the doors of heaven are open,
therefore ask Allah not to close them for you;
The doors of hell are closed,
so ask Allah to keep them closed for you.
During this month Shaytan (Satan) is imprisoned
so ask your Lord not to let him have power over you."
S.M.Masoomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00229817373609457341noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8617657799081545391.post-31231057909645356722008-08-27T11:41:00.000-07:002008-08-27T11:42:49.337-07:00The objective and subjective merits of the month of RamadhanTo describe the objective and subjective merits of the month of Ramadhan, which justify its higher rank over other months, it is more suitable to refer to the words of the Almighty Allah, and His Last Prophet.

The Holy Qur’an says:

O you who believe! fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard (against evil).

For a certain number of days; but whoever among you is sick or on a journey, then (he shall fast) a (like) number of other days; and those who are not able to do it may effect a redemption by feeding a poor man; so whoever does good spontaneously it is better for him; and that you fast is better for you if you know.

The month of Ramazan is that in which the Quran was revealed, a guidance to men and clear proofs of the guidance and the distinction; therefore whoever of you is present in the month, he shall fast therein, and whoever is sick or upon a journey, then (he shall fast) a (like) number of other days; Allah desires ease for you, and He does not desire for you difficulty, and (He desires) that you should complete the number and that you should exalt the greatness of Allah for His having guided you and that you may give thanks. (AL BAQARAH: 183 to 185)

It is made lawful to you to go into your wives on the night of the fast; they are an apparel for you and you are an apparel for them; Allah knew that you acted unfaithfully to yourselves, so He has turned to you (mercifully) and removed from you (this burden); so now be in contact with them and seek what Allah has ordained for you, and eat and drink until the whiteness of the day becomes distinct from the blackness of the night at dawn, then complete the fast till night, and have not contact with them while you keep to the mosques; these are the limits of Allah, so do not go near them. Thus does Allah make clear His communications for men that they may guard (against evil). (AL BAQARAH: 187)

And men who fast and women who fast…Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a vast reward. (AL AH’ZAAB: 35)
The Holy Qur’an was revealed to the Holy Prophet (S.A.) in the month of Ramaz’aan.

Fasting throughout the month has been made obligatory.

Fasting is one of the "Waajib" (obligatory) rules of conduct laid down by Islam.

Shayk Suddooq (R.A.) quotes Imam Ali bin Moosa Ar Riza (A.S.) that he received from his Holy ancestors, on the authority of Imam Ali ibna Abi Taalib (A.S.), the text of the speech the Holy Prophet used to deliver at the advent of the blessed month of Ramaz’an:

The Holy Prophet (S.A.) said:
"O men and women! Draws near unto you the blessed month, overflowing with advantages, merciful, ready to put up your sins of omission and commission to Allah for obtaining His forgiveness. Its days, nights and hours, in the estimation of Allah, are more select, refined and important than the days, nights and hours of other months. It surpasses all months in merits and favors".
In this month you are the guests of Allah, enjoying His hospitality, you are from among His favorites, your breathing is "praise of Allah", your sleep is His worship, your prayers receive His approval, your invocations are sanctioned. So, sincerely, free from evil and sinful thoughts and actions, with clear conscience, pray and request that He may give your heart and confidence to observe fast and recite the Holy Qur’an and dua’as throughout this month.

He who does not receive mercy and forgiveness in this month is really an ill-fated unfortunate, condemned to everlasting unhappiness and deprivation.

Thirst and hunger you undergo, feel and live through, her and now, bring to your memory the severity and sharpness of the drought and starvation that will be the order of the day on the Day of Judgement.

Give alms to the poor and the destitute.
Treat your parents and elders with respect.
Be kind and loving to your children and juniors.
Take care of and look after your kith and kin.
Keep from giving tongue to that which should not even be whispered.
Shut your eyes to that which is indecent to have an eye for.
Turn a deaf ear to that which is too slanderous to be all ears.
Be compassionate, gentle and benign unto orphans so that after you, your children, if need be, receive the same treatment from others.
Turn repentant to Allah and seek His nearness.

After every prayer recite dua’s to invoke His mercy and forgiveness because the most suitable time to get fulfillment of desires is when you have prayed a salat, the Almighty gives answer to His servants who call Him in these moments.

O People! In truth and fact your bodies and souls are held in pledge, strike a bargain to set them free by asking forgiveness of Allah. Your backs are burdened with a hard to endure load of sins, prostrate yourselves in adoration of Allah, a great deal, to make the drag less heavy, because the Lord of the Worlds has given His word, in the Name of His Might and Honor, not to take to task those who pray and prostrate in this month, the flames of the fire will not frighten them.

O People! Whoso provides a meal to a faithful, at the time of breaking the fast, earns the recompense of setting an enslaved human being free.

O People! In this month, whoso makes better his or her morals will cross the "Bridge of Siraat" with ease and finesse, where people, at every step, would stumble and fall; whoso gives leisure and respite to his or her employees will receive equivalent leniency on the Day of Reckoning; whoso takes care of and looks after the orphans and relatives will be treated mercifully on the Day of Judgement; whoso prays optional salats will get the immunity from Hellfire, and praying of obligatory salats, in prime time, multiply the good in leaps and bounds; whoso recites even one verse of the Holy Qur’an, obtains the reward of a full recital of the whole Book in the other months.

O People! In this month, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the doors of the everlasting bliss and happiness are thrown open, so beseech Allah not ever to shut them off to our face; and the traps of the eternal curse are unhinged, so make a request to Allah to remove them from your path for ever; the devils are held in chains, so pray to Allah not to set them free for leading your astray.

The month of Rama’zan is very dear to Allah. It is the most august of all months, pure, generous and merciful.

Do not let its nights go waste in slumber, its days in careless omission or loss of remembrance of Allah.S.M.Masoomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00229817373609457341noreply@blogger.com0
